ICANN Could Curb .com Price Increases

January 31, 2006 in News

ICANN has been fielding comments after releasing their document that proposed giving VeriSign permanent control over the .com Registry and potentially creating big price increases for consumers. The revised settlement reigns in VeriSign’s control over the .com Registry, but giving them a 6-year term. It also set a baseline price for .com registrations through 2006, though they can raise prices 7% per year for 4 of the 6 years of the contract.
