The Commerce Department requested statements from the public on how to proceed with the domain name system, they were hoping to get replies from companies who were not involved in the power war discussions that had been waging for the past two months, but who did have some stake in the game. Unfortunately, the majority of the major players failed to reply. Instead, the Commerce Department received only 300 proposals and statements from the very same people who vocalized their opinions from the start.
