During ICANN’s board meeting this week, the .jobs Registry got a positive response, allowing it to open the registration process. Until now, the TLD has been restricted to companies that were registering their company name for career site purposes, GoDaddy.jobs for example. However, it will now be open to other registrations. Despite this, it’s not likely to be a domainers favorite as the Registry will be working with Direct employers Association to create many job boards based on key domain names with the .jobs extension, effectively scooping up the majority of generic domains in this extension.
