Network Solutions, whose control over the domain name systems was supposed to have expired at midnight, has been granted a seven day extension to give squabbling organizations time to settle their differences over the new plans. The new authority, ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), which will oversee the system, still needs work according to the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF).
