You've exhausted the possibilities offered by a
.com domain name, the name you want is unavailable, or you are simply looking for a
cheaper alternative to the $50 a year domain names provided via InterNIC. There are a
number of other options available:-
Emphasize which country your business is based in by
purchasing a country top level
domain. For instance, customers in Japan can
purchase names ending in ".jp" and those in the UK can purchase ones ending in
".uk"
If the <name>.<country> domain name you want
has already been taken, you may be able to buy an alternative .country.com sub-domain. This is usually cheaper than a .country name, but the name will not
carry quite the same status.
If you don't really need a domain name at all, but just an
interesting email address for company or personal use, there are a number of vanity e-mail services available. Many of these are FREE, others carry a small monthly
charge.
Whatever you choose, always remember that domain names do
not have to end with .com.
